Hemingway and the Great War Museum

Bassano del Grappa - Italy

Thismuseum tells the life of Hemingway during the First World War and his experience as an ambulance driver. It also features items related to his life and literary work. The only museum dedicated to Hemingway in Italy and in Europe. The collection of books on display, of stamps dedicated to him, is splendid and is located in the splendid location of Villa Ca 'Erizzo in which Hemingway lived for a certain period during the First World War when he was the driver of the American Red Cross.

Next to the Museum you can sleep in a magical location: theB&B Cà Hemingway dedicated to the American novelist 50 meters from the entrance to the Hemingway Museum.

Ernest Hemingway Museum (Finca Vigia)

San Francisco de Paula - Cuba

This museum is located in the residence where Hemingway lived in Cuba. It displays personal items, books, photos and documents relating to the life and work of the author. Here you can also see his famous boat called Pilar. 

The house was built in 1886 by Catalan architect Miguel Pascual y Baguer and is now a museum, designed of course by its famous owner Ernest Hemingway.

Ernest Hemingway himself lived in the house from mid-1939 to 1960. He first rented the Finca La Vigia, in 1940 he bought the house immediately after marrying his third wife Martha Gellhorn. For the entire property (61,000 square meters) he paid $12,500 at the time.

The house has a breathtaking view of the city of Havana from the back porch.

Hemingway House and Museum

Key West - Florida - USA

This historic home was Hemingway's retreat in the 1930s. It is now amuseum which houses a large collection of personal items, manuscripts and photographs. This house museum is famous for its polydactyl cats,  true stars of the Museum.  It was the residence of the American writer in the 1930s. The home is located on the island of Key West, Florida at 907 Whitehead Street across from the Key West Lighthouse near the south shore of the island.

The Ernest Hemingway Birthplace Museum

Oak Park - Illinois - USA

This museum is located in the home where Hemingway was born in 1899. It displays photographs, period items, and family memorabilia.  You will see his childhood diary, photos of his early life and a farewell note written by his first love, the American cross nurse Agnes von Kurowsky. Also on display are some of his early writings, showing the development of the typical terse style that became his trademark. The museum shop stocks gift items, posters and, of course, lots of Hemingway books.

Hemingway-Pfeiffer Museum and Educational Center

Pigott - Arkansas - USA

This museum is located in the Pfeiffer family home, where Hemingway lived with his second wife, Pauline Pfeiffer. It exhibits letters, photographs and objects that reflect the period in which Hemingway lived there.
